This was an event to reach out to the LatinX community in Durham during the coronavirus pandemic, organized by El Centro Hispano on Sunday, June 28, 2020. They gave out masks and information. This community has been hit especially hard in Durham and North Carolina, with the big majority of patients being diagnosed.
Pilar Rocha-Goldberg, President & CEO of El Centro Hispano
Vicki Cruz, Workforce Development, El Centro Hispano
Getting Ready to start the work
The team is joined by Durham Mayor Steve Schewel and Councilwoman Javiera Caballero.
Visiting vendors
On an empty lot next door to a shopping center, there were a number of vendors selling fruits, vegetables, and used household goods. They were a main focus of the education effort and for giving out masks.
